President Muhammadu insists the place of his wife, Aisha, is in the kitchen.
On Friday, Buhari said his wife belonged in the kitchen, and“the other room,”apparently a euphemism for the bedroom.
He had said this at a press conference after a closed-door meeting,with
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in response to an interview Aisha
granted the BBC, where she said that his government had been hijacked.
In the interview, Aisha had also said that she might not support her
husband under the present circumstances if he seeks re-election in 2019.
“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but my wife belongs to my
kitchen and my living room and the other room.” Buhari had said.
“It is not easy to do away with opposition or people who did not follow
you along your campaign trail. I hope my wife will remember that I was
on the field for 12 years; I tried three times, the fourth time I
managed to succeed. And
I ended up the first three times in the Nigerian Supreme Court, so I
claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition and I
succeeded.
“It is not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition party or to participate in the government.”
In response to a backlash from the statement, Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, said the president was only joking.
But in an interview with DW’s Phil g@yle, Buhari reiterated his
position, saying the function of his wife was to take care of his home:
DW: Recently your wife criticised your choices for top jobs, and you
responded by saying “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but
she belongs to my kitchen and my living room.”
What did you mean by that, sir?
Buhari: I am sure you have a house. … You know where your kitchen is,
you know where your living room is, and I believe your wife looks after
all of that, even if she is working.

Zambian ruling party, Patriotic Front PF, has suspended its Mufulira
deputy mayor and district chairlady Beatrice Kapansa for sending her
half Nakked picture to a PF WhatsApp group. She shocked social media
users on Sunday, October 9, 2016, after flaunting her B.reasts in the
forum.
The municipal leader, who is in her late 50s, added a caption to her picture: ” JUST RELAXING IN BED.”
Following the scandal, PF Copperbelt chairman Steven Kainga said in
an interview yesterday that the incident was extremely embarrassing and
the ruling party had distanced itself from Kapansa’s actions.
“The party has further given Ms Kapansa a period in which to
exculpate herself and show cause as to why further disciplinary actions
should not be taken in line with the party disciplinary code. Ms
Kapansa’s actions were embarrassing not only to the party but also to
the women folk. So she stands suspended,” said Kainga who further said
this should serve as a warning to other leaders on their conduct as they
represented not only themselves but the party as a whole.

It has been revealed that two police officers have been gunned down
in Kaduna State. They were reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be
Fulani herdsmen.
According to DailyPost, the incident occurred on Thursday in Southern Kaduna.
The officers were reportedly patrolling Kagoro-Gidan Waya highway
following the incessant attacks in the area when the incident occurred.
The deceased officers include Sgt. Godiya Agula and Sgt. James Iliya,
while Sgt. Umar Magaji, who sustained several injuries is said to be
receiving treatment.
The policemen were on visiting patrol from Zaria to the area as a
result of the incessant attacks in the area that have resulted in
killings and destruction of property, but were ambushed by the gunmen on
their assumption of duty.
The affected policemen reportedly lost their AK47 rifles to the gunmen.
A police officer in the area who does not want his name in print
could not authenticate the number of ammunition in the rifles
confiscated by the gunmen, but confirmed the incident.
Three people have been shot dead by some yet-to-be identified operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) on Thursday.
The incident reportedly occurred at the Alakuko area of Lagos State.
According to ThisDay, after they had shot three persons dead while
chasing some alleged smugglers, the Customs operatives then clashed with
some policemen who wanted to arrest them.
It was gathered that the customs officers, who were from the
Federal Operation Unit (FOU), were chasing the suspected smugglers
conveying rice when they shot at the vehicle, killing three persons.
When alerted, policemen from the Alakuko Division were said to have
tried to apprehend the customs officers, who then shot sporadically to
scare away the police and other passers-by, who tried to arrest them.
When they successfully evaded arrest, sympathisers and onlookers, were said to have taken to the streets in protest.
However, hoodlums hijacked the protest and started molesting motorists and passersbys, while they smashed some vehicle windows.

during the launch of his latest movie, ‘A Trip to Jamaica,’ also
admitted that he had heard that so many people believe that he is into ‘juju’.
“I am just a product of God’s grace.
When I shot ‘30 days in Atlanta,’ I just set out to go there and have
fun but a lot of people are attributing it to something else. They are
saying maybe I did juju. I’ve heard all sorts and I’m beginning
to suspect myself in the sense that anything I do always comes out
well. My stand-up comedy show is one of the biggest in the country. Same
with my TV show. I’m just a product of grace. That is what I tell
people. Not because I am the best, not because I know how to do it
better. I just have this shining light and I keep praying that the grace
remains. For now, let me enjoy my grace.”
He added that it was his wife’s idea to
begin shooting movies since he studied Directing in the university. The
comedian said that while growing up, he always went to the library to
read the Guinness Book of World Records but he never dreamt that his
name would be in one of its editions.
“Before the Guinness World Record came,
we were done with ‘A Trip to Jamaica.’ Let me take you back to ‘30 days
in Atlanta.’ This was me just setting out to go and have fun. I’m known
as a stand-up comedian with my programme, AY Live. One day, I
had a discussion with my wife about diversification and doing something
different. Since I do a lot of skits that made my YouTube channel the
most viewed in the country for three years consecutively, she suggested I
put them together to make a full movie. That was what gave birth to ‘30
Days in Atlanta.’ And because I was new in the business, the idea was
just to put some budget together and go and shoot a film. I didn’t know
it was going to make a difference. And right now, I am basking in that
euphoria. I enjoy and appreciate the fact that ‘30 Days in Atlanta’ made
it to the Guinness Book of Records. I feel very happy. I didn’t see it
coming, not even for a second. I mean, I always tell people, I used to
go to the library back in the days to just grab that book and read. I
had this impression that the people they featured probably had four
heads. I never knew a day would come when I would see myself in the
book. Maybe, somebody is reading it now and thinks AY has four heads
too,” he said.
