Woman Bites Electricity Workers For Disconnecting Her Light

A 28-year-old trader, Kemi Shopade, who allegedly assaulted two Ikeja Electric workers that wanted to disconnect her electricity wire, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Shopade, resident of Alaguntan, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy and assault. The Prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Awase, said that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 24, at her residence.

Awase said that the accused and two others, who had yet to be apprehended, assaulted two workers of Ikeja Electric — Mr John Oluwole and Mr Uwaoman Ibiam.

“The accused beat up and bit the complainants while performing their duty,” he said. He said that the complainants disconnected the electricity supply of the accused over unpaid electricity bills from January.

“The accused, who had not paid for electricity since the beginning of the year, descended on the complainants when they disconnected her power supply. “The two other men who are still at large joined her in beating the complainants, and in the process, the accused bit the complainants.

“The case was reported to the police and the accused was arrested,” the prosecutor said. The offences contravened Sections 174 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).

Section 174 prescribes three years jail term for a person guilty of assault. The accused, however, pleaded innocence of the offences and was granted bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Magistrate, Mr J.A. Adigun, said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government. He adjourned the case until Jan. 5, for mention.

Notorious Kidnap Kingpin, Evans To Face Death Penalty

Lagos state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has signed into law a death penalty or life imprisonment for the offence of kidnap and forceful extortion in Lagos State as he signs into law the state kidnapping prohibition bill.

The law provides for death penalty for kidnappers whose victims die in their custody, and life imprisonment for the act of kidnapping.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Lagos State House of Assembly passed the bill on January 5.

The governor said that the law was enacted to address key issues bordering on security, adding that kidnapping had become a major threat to the safety of residents and, therefore, required decisive action by the government.

“This law imposes a penalty of life imprisonment for kidnapping for ransom.

“The law stipulates that, where a victim dies in the course of kidnapping, the suspect is liable on conviction to death.

“Security is of utmost importance to our administration, and we are confident that this law will serve as a deterrent to anybody, who may desire to engage in this wicked act within the boundaries of Lagos State.

“Our justice system will be required to execute this law in absolute and make sure that any criminal caught faces the full wrath of the law,” Ambode said.

Considering the enormity of Evans’ crime, it is like that he will be facing a life imprisonment or death penalty punishment.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it still has plans to prosecute former Governors who embezzled funds.

This was disclosed by the EFCC Zonal Head, South-South, Ishaq Salihu, in an interview on Saturday.

Salihu insisted that they would not bow to external pressure in its anti-corruption war.

“The searchlight of the EFCC is not only on former governors; its (searchlight) is also on other Nigerians who think they can take funds belonging to the country and put them in their private pockets.

“The EFCC, under Mr. Ibrahim Magu’s leadership, will never succumb to any pressure. Like we have always said, there will be no sacred cow,” he said.

Salihu also hailed the Judiciary over the jail term handed to former governor of Adamawa State, Bala Ngilari.

“The EFCC is trying its best to fight corruption but kudos should be given to the judiciary in the handling of Adamawa’s ex governor’s case.

“The fight against corruption is noble and the results can be seen. The judgment secured against the former Governor of Adamawa State is a victory for Nigeria. It shows that the judiciary is independent and courageous,” he added.

Buhari’s Corruption Fight Will Be Meaningless If He Does Not Probe Obasanjo – Waku… Also Calls For Judges Probe @

Joseph Waku, a former senator representing Benue North-West Senatorial District, has praised the Federal Government for looking into the deep corruption existing in the judiciary. He praised them for the act and told them to extend it to the regime of a former president of the Federation, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Below is what Maku said in an interview yesterday with newsmen.
“We need to sanitise our judiciary; if the arm of government that we know is the last hope of the common man is enmeshed in corruption, then where lies the hope of the commoners?
This is why I strongly support the clampdown on the judiciary, provided it is not a witch-hunt, but one aspect I object to is the manner of arrest, I think the law provides the way of arresting suspected corrupt persons. You have to invite the suspect and if he fails to respond to your invitation then you adopt minimum force. Continue…
“But swooping on suspects as if they have already been pronounced criminals is tantamount to criminality on the part of the security operatives.
“Imagine, security operatives invading judge’s house with maximum force, what do you think would have happened if the security men attached to the judge reacted negatively?
“The consequence would have been grave. So, that is why I strongly object to the method of the arrest, let them be civil in their approach.
“I strongly support the fight against corruption especially in the judiciary, because the perception of people on this arm of government is that there is a lot of rot there. Let the noise not die like that, those accused should be taken to court for prosecution and if found guilty should be convicted and punished.”
Waku also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to extend his anti-corruption fight to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s regime.
He said, “The corruption fight of Buhari will be meaningful if he can extend it to Obasanjo, corruption is not only when you take bribe or embezzle our commonwealth, election rigging is also corruption or using your office to conscript people to donate to your personal thing is corruption.”
When asked whether his hatred for Obasanjo was not responsible for his call for his prosecution, Waku said no.
“No! If you have personal contact with Obasanjo, you will know that he his humorous, I like him as a person, and besides, he is my elder, he was my commander in chief for 11 years. I cannot inherit anything from him, he cannot also inherit anything from me, Chief Obasanjo is a great man, there is no doubt about that.
“But the fact remains, let him be probed, it may even serve as a blessing to him, if his administration is probed and he is eventually found innocent, that will exonerate him from the eyes of the public and to some of us, Obasanjo remains the most … president Nigeria ever had until proven otherwise.”

Several Houses Destroyed As Petrol Tanker Falls, Spills Content In Oyo

Several houses and properties were destroyed yesterday in Saki Area of Oyo State as a petrol tanker fell and spilled its content.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the unmarked tanker spilled its content into buildings when the driver lost control while descending a road at Kinikini area of the town.
Some residents, who witnessed the incident, described it as “terrible and unfortunate.”
The Caretaker Chairman of Saki West Council, Kareem Adegoke, told NAN that the council had provided an alternative route for articulated vehicles.
He wondered why some of the drivers preferred to embark on what he called “dangerous journeys.’’
“We have done what is expected of us by providing an alternative route so as to avert this kind of ugly occurrence. Relevant authorities have been duly informed and I’m sure they will be here soon for an on- the-spot-assessment. For now, we are relocating the affected residents to one of our camps to provide them with necessary shelter for now,’’ he said.
One Akande Adeola, 45, said she escaped the inferno due to the alarm raised by passersby.
“I was already sleeping when I heard people shouting on top of their voices that we should move out. People were shouting and so we all moved out before the tanker eventually caught fire,’’ she said.
Another resident, Monsuru Alebiosu, said he was still awake when he heard large noise from the tanker.
“When I ran out and saw that it was a petrol tanker that fell, I started shouting and calling on everyone to come out of their houses before the tanker caught fire,’’ he said.

No Nigerian President Has Made Provision For The Masses Like Buhari – VP Yemi Osinbajo Reveals

VP Osinbajo and his spokesman, Akande

Nigeria’s Vice President has said that says that President Muhammadu Buhari N500 billion social investment scheme is the largest social protection programme in the history of Nigeria.

Speaking on Saturday at a breakfast event attended by some presidents and heads of delegations to the African Union (AU) meeting in Kigali, capital of Rwanda, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo says the N500 billion social investment scheme of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government is the largest social protection programme in the history of Nigeria.

VP Osinbajo’s senior special assistant to the vice-president on media and publicity, Laolu Akande, disclosed that the vice-president said the welfare of the citizens is the priority of Buhari’s government, adding that the current administration is making efforts to lift many people out of poverty.

“In Nigeria, in the current budget cycle we have the largest social protection programme in the history of the country. It’s a N500B programme-(worth over $2.5B as at the time budget was signed).

“Basically we are looking at lifting many out of poverty, of course many are farmiliar with the size of the Nigerian state and we have close to hundred and ten million people who are poor and about two-tenth are in extreme poverty.

“So, it is a very huge problem and part of what we are trying to do is to look at how not just to empower people but also to ensure that what they are given is sustainable.

“For the women, we are doing a programme, micro-credit programme for a million market women and artisans. All would be given facilities, training facilities as well to enable them to be able to do some work for themselves and to continue to be able to live.

“And we think that giving this micro-credit loan to women is to make sure that they handle money better and do a much better work on the whole.

“So, l think that with what we ve’ done already, we have seen that they are certainly going to work,” Akande quoted Osinbajo as saying.

According to The Cable News, the vice president also explained some other parts of the programme, recalling the role the Bill & Melinda Gate Foundation played in assisting the government identify its target.

“In the case of conditional cash transfer, again we are handing these to women. We are giving (this to) another million, to the poorest of the poor.

“In determining who the poorest is, we had problems on that, but we have very good assistance from the World Bank and the Bill Gates Foundation. They helped in trying to map the really poor.

“We had to get inside the communities looking for the poorest of the poor with the small sum of money which is about N5000, which is a sum of money that would be given to the poorest every month, which may enable them feed themselves and find something that they may do and on the condition that they send their children to school and participate in immunisation.

“So, we are really excited about some of the works we are trying to do around the SDGs and we are hopeful that we’ll be able to get the social protection programme working,” he said.

Shell’s host communities in Bayelsa, Rivers report Earth tremour, seek investigation

Some Communities in Rivers and Bayelsa states, within oilfields operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), have reported witnessing vibrations, described as earth tremor and urged the government to probe the cause.
In some of the affected areas visited such as Igbogene and Akenfa in Bayelsa as well as Akinima, Akie-Oniso(Oruama), One Man Country and Mbiama in Rivers, residents said they were yet to come to terms with the incident and were still in fear.
According to them, they noticed heavy vibrations that lasted for several minutes during the incident which occurred on Sunday night.
Chief Etekpe , a house owner and retired School Principal in Igbogene , Bayelsa on Friday said it was a frightening experience.
“We were about to go to bed when I heard a heavy vibration. I thought it was something else so I quickly went into spiritual prayers’, the 60-year-old stated.
Victor Idieto, who also resides in the area, said, “In fact, there was a kind of quake, very serious quake that lasted for over minutes.
“At first I thought it was armed robbers that were removing my roof, so I started shouting, only to realise that others had similar experience.”
At Akie-Oniso in Oruama in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers, a resident, Paul Kio said the tremor caused a crack in his building.
“This vibration was something unpredictable, look at the cracks on my wall,’ Mr. Kio said.
Also Paul Harrison, who also resides in the area, said it was the fourth time the incident had taken place, vowing to take his family away from the community if another occurs.
At Akinima, headquarters of the Local Government Area, a housewife, Animason Emeka Mark, pointed out that it was a traumatic experience she had on Sunday night.
“Everywhere was shaking. It was something else. I thought the world had come to an end,” she recalled.

Although what triggered the tremor has yet to be established, some indigenes and environmentalists linked it to intense seismic and oil exploration activities undertaken by SPDC in the area over the years.
Residents called on government and relevant agencies to look into the incident with a view to ascertaining the real cause and prevent future occurrences to avert any disaster.
Joseph Obari, an SPDC spokesman, when contacted to react on the development said that he was on vacation and hence could not respond.
Also Precious Okolobo, Media Relations Manager at SPDC, declined comments on the development.

I Want 3 Rounds Of S*x From My Husband – Lagos Housewife

Not a joking sturv! A house wife named Afusat has cried out over her husband named Aminu Mohammed Simpa who has the dexterity of a capable man but is “not strong enough” to satisfy her in the bedroom.

His inability has affected the peace they once enjoyed in their house. The wife is very angry…
According to The Sun, for over 13 years, the 51-year-old indigene of Kogi State has not gone more than one round of s*x with his wife, Afusat, a constant cause of quarrel in the middle of the night.

S*x is now a luxury for them. Anytime they are going to have it, they have to plan it. The wife would have to inform the husband beforehand so that he would not stress himself during the day. At the end of all preparations, Simpa will still not go more than one round.

This has led to the serious wahala. Afusat, 44, complains of not getting satisfaction every time they make love. As a woman, she told The Sun, she expects at least three rounds of s*x from her husband.

“I expect my husband to be able to take me to orgasm whenever I wish to make love to him. But no, that is not the case; instead he would stop at one round breathing as if he just climbed a mountain. It is unacceptable. But I understand his predicament,” Afusat stated.

Trouble started for the father of four when he had accident while on duty at Glaxosmithkline, Ilupeju Lagos. He was injured above his pelvis and was operated upon. The operation affected him as a man.

How I became partially impotent
Narrating his ordeal, Simpa, recalled how he went to work in May 2003 on morning shift as a security officer with his former employer.

“That day, I was on morning shift, to close work around 2pm. My supervisor, Mr. Wilson Oyedele, who was on afternoon shift that day delayed me and asked me to work with the people on afternoon shift because there were few people working on afternoon shift”, he stated.

“I was told to work from 2pm and close by 5pm,” he continued, adding “that day loading started around 5pm and the gate to the warehouse was faulty to the extent that we used plank to suspend it when we open and close it. I was in a hurry to go home because I did not inform my family that I would be coming back late from work. The boy offloading was too slow for my liking so I went to assist him, in the process I was hit by the bad gate.”

His frustration
Simpa is in pain. He is not only suffering from his inability to satisfy his wife but also from how a company he worked for, for 15 years treated him after he sustained the injury. He was taken care of by the company during his stay in the hospital but was laid off some months later because he asked for compensation.

“In a place of work when an employee gets injured, they compensate them , but they did not do that, I wrote a letter to management while I was working there but my supervisor said that I am still working with them and I want them to compensate me. He told them to put my name in the retrenchment list in 2005

“When I went back to work on the 20th of June, after four months they released the retrenchment list and told me that my service was no longer needed, I went to meet them and they said that they wanted to reduce the number of staff.”

Simpa said effort to get the hospital remove the iron attached to his body has been futile since the hospital has not had any communication from Glaxosmithkline to commence treatment on him. Therefore, he resorted to taking painkillers and self-medication to survive while waiting for the company.

“I have been to hospital but they refused to treat me. Even the human resource officer that no longer works there told me that if I am not given a letter, I would not be treated. I even went to meet the doctor that operated on me at LUTH, but he told me to pay N5,000 before he would attend to me or recommend drugs that I would take. What I have been doing since then is to engage in one job or another then use the money to buy Ampiclox , Vitamin C, Panadol and pain relieving dru

The Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit has found discrepancies in the payroll of the Federal Government’s Ministries, Agencies and Departments to the tune of N5.7 billion monthly.

The Head of the Continuous Audit Team, Mr Mohammed Dikwa, made this known in an interview with newsmen on Friday in Kano on the sideline of the two-day National Revenue Retreat, organised by the Ministry of Finance.

He said that the amount was the true state of their findings as at June 30, 2016, and as a result the federal government had been saved from paying that amount monthly.

President Buhari had early this year set up the Continuous Audit Team to look into the finance of Federal Government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

This is meant to address issue of ghost workers, over payment of allowances, fraud and embezzlement in MDAs.

“The Continuous Audit Team plans to conduct regular checks on the control and risk assessment of MDAs. We look at the records that are being kept to ensure transparency and accountability of the financial transactions carried over time.

“In terms of ghost workers, we have found about 43,000 ghost workers so far and as at May 30, we had N4.2 billion that is saved on a monthly basis.

“But as at June, 30, we were able to make more recoveries of N2.2 billion which has led to an additional savings of N6.4 billion monthly,” he said.

Dikwa said that more savings would be made when the team succeeds in capturing all the Federal Govenment’s MDA into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

“The IPPIS platform is only having 20 per cent of the MDAs of the Federal Government on board. This means that about 80 per cent of MDAs are still outside the IPPIS platform.

“And it is important that they are all captured because our system of approach in conducting the continuous audit is automated.

“We get those on the IPPIS platform and match them with their Bank Verification Numbers and see who is collecting two salaries at the same time.

“We also check if there is any money being paid into individual accounts that is way above what he or she should be getting as allowances and salaries,” he said.

Dikwa said the team had a long way to go as it had only covered 20 percent of its workload.

He said that all suspected cases of ghost workers and other acts were being forwarded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to ensure recoveries.

Dikwa said also that the team had succeeded in reducing the personnel cost of the federal government from N150 billion monthly in January, to N142 billion per month as at June 2016.

“This drastic reduction in personnel cost will continue as the Continuous Audit Team maintains its continuous visitations to all MDAs.

“It is expected that by Dec 31, over N100 billion will be reduced from the budgeted personnel cost of the 2016 year.

Messi Might Be Heading To Chelsea As Abramovich Meets With His Dad To Prepare Move

In the wake of the Argentine’s tax fraud case, Antonio Conte’s side are looking to edge ahead of Manchester City in the race for the 29-year-old if he decides to quit Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi’s father has met with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, according to The Sun.

The meeting was held on Abramovich’s yacht, the Eclipse, as Chelsea attempt to manoeuvre themselves into pole position if Messi intends to leave Barcelona in the wake of his tax fraud case.

Chelsea are ready to offer Barcelona around £110 million for the 29-year-old and will better the forward’s current deal with the Spanish champions, which currently stands at £600,000 a week.

Manchester City have also registered their interest and have a contract prepared which would see Messi earn £800,000 a week

Mourinho Wrong To Return To Chelsea – Ferguson

Jose Mourinho made the wrong decision in returning for a second stint at Chelsea, according to Sir Alex Ferguson.
Mourinho has taken over at Manchester United after leaving Stamford Bridge before Christmas last season.
The Portuguese tactician was appointed again at Chelsea in mid-2013, leading the club to a Premier League title.
But it turned sour for Mourinho in London, departing in December last year after losing nine of 16 league games.
And Ferguson, a friend of the former Real Madrid and Inter coach as well as a club ambassador at United, believes Mourinho should never have returned to Chelsea.
“I thought Jose was wrong to go back to Chelsea, I really do,” the legendary former United boss told Sky Sports at a charity event.

“I think it’s always difficult going back to somewhere for a second time.
“The ability, charisma and personality, his success is high, won a European Cup twice with different clubs, won a Europa [League] with Porto, winning titles with all the teams he’s managed. His record – you can’t ignore that.
“I think Manchester United is the right kind of club for him, I really do. I think we’ll do well.”
United finished fifth in the league last season, but Mourinho has already added Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly to his squad with further signings likely.
