Why some people say I use juju –AY

Not just a few wonder aloud how popular comedian, Ayo Makun, aka AY, has been able to hit the pinnacle even faster than the comedians who had been there before him. For a first time movie maker, his ‘30 Days in Atlanta’ broke records as the highest grossing film in Africa and then, his shows are usually well-attended.
As such, so many people believe that AY might have achieved this success through diabolical means.
The comedian, in a recent chat with Saturday Beats during the launch of his latest movie, ‘A Trip to Jamaica,’ also admitted that he had heard that so many people believe that he is into ‘juju’.
“I am just a product of God’s grace. When I shot ‘30 days in Atlanta,’ I just set out to go there and have fun but a lot of people are attributing it to something else. They are saying maybe I did juju. I’ve heard all sorts and I’m beginning to suspect myself in the sense that anything I do always comes out well. My stand-up comedy show is one of the biggest in the country. Same with my TV show. I’m just a product of grace. That is what I tell people. Not because I am the best, not because I know how to do it better. I just have this shining light and I keep praying that the grace remains. For now, let me enjoy my grace.”
He added that it was his wife’s idea to begin shooting movies since he studied Directing in the university. The comedian said that while growing up, he always went to the library to read the Guinness Book of World Records but he never dreamt that his name would be in one of its editions.
“Before the Guinness World Record came, we were done with ‘A Trip to Jamaica.’ Let me take you back to ‘30 days in Atlanta.’ This was me just setting out to go and have fun. I’m known as a stand-up comedian with my programme, AY Live. One day, I had a discussion with my wife about diversification and doing something different. Since I do a lot of skits that made my YouTube channel the most viewed in the country for three years consecutively, she suggested I put them together to make a full movie. That was what gave birth to ‘30 Days in Atlanta.’ And because I was new in the business, the idea was just to put some budget together and go and shoot a film. I didn’t know it was going to make a difference. And right now, I am basking in that euphoria. I enjoy and appreciate the fact that ‘30 Days in Atlanta’ made it to the Guinness Book of Records. I feel very happy. I didn’t see it coming, not even for a second. I mean, I always tell people, I used to go to the library back in the days to just grab that book and read. I had this impression that the people they featured probably had four heads. I never knew a day would come when I would see myself in the book. Maybe, somebody is reading it now and thinks AY has four heads too,” he said.

Olamide’s 6th Studio Album Will Be A ‘Hip-Hop’ Project (See Details)

Olamide’s sixth studio album will be released in December, and it will definitely have rap in it.

The Nigerian rapper who has released released a studio album every year since his debut in 2011, is working on maintaining his figures and keeping his momentum going, by dropping a studio album in 2016.

The new album will be released in December, as songs on the album have already been recorded. It will feature hit song ‘Who you epp’, along with other singles. No official title, artwork, and tracklist has been released.

This will be Olamide’s 7 album. In 2011, he launched his career with “Rapsodi”, and went further to release a string of albums every year including “YBNL” (2012), “Baddest Guy Ever Liveth” (2013), “Street OT” (2014), “2 Kings” (joint album with Phyno, 2015), and “Eyan Mayweather” (2015).

2016 has been a big year for the rapper. Under his leadership and guidance, his record label, YBNL, has released an album (“YAGI”) for rapper Lil Kesh, who have subsequently left the company, to found his personal imprint. It is currently still promoting Adekunle Gold’s “Gold” album. He has also began work on another of his signed rappers, Chinko Ekun, who is releasing singles.

Nobody knows how many of his singles since his last album will make the next full-length project. And although the rapper has kept up his work in the pop genre, he has always been sure to mix that with some Hip-hop tracks. This genre diversity has retained his credibility as a rapper, while also chasing the big bucks that comes from the pop sound.

Singles ‘Who you epp’, ‘Lies People Tell’, ‘Owo Blow’, and ‘Sere’ have all been rap singles which sits squarely at the center of the Hip-hop conversation. If ever there was an award for the most eye-catching and viral Hip-hop record for 2016, ‘Who you epp’ will be a shoo-in for the trophy. Olamide understands his roots in indigenous rap music, and how he earned his credentials by spitting for the streets. He emB.races his past, and looks to the future with more of it.
Pop music has been a menace to the Hip-hop genre, with the two types of music having found a way to move in together and cohabit a single space. Just as the marriage between R&B and Hip-hop in the US, our pop sounds have formed a natural alliance with rap music, and together they have grown. Olamide’s ‘Sere’ strides this fine line, and embodies what has been happening on the music scene for almost a decade. He is on the record with Lil Kesh, and together, they create music with elements of both worlds on display.

Just like his past three albums, rap has never been absent from Olamide’s career, and his next album will still be a glowing addition to Hip-hop. The man can adapt and become Nigeria’s A-list pop star, but he finds new ways to still be a rap star too. December will be a good month for the glory of Nigerian rap music.

Wizkid fights with Tanzanian Singer Ali Kiba during Chris Brown concert!

ew reports have confirmed that Wizkid got into a fight with Tanzania’s top star, Ali Kiba, over who would perform first over the weekend during the Mombasa Rocks concert headlined by Chris Brown.

According to Kenya.co.ke, the scuffle started after Ali Kiba insisted he would not perform first; the two acts reportedly fought over who was the biggest, who had the largest fan base.
Here’s what the media house said:
“Ali Kiba is said to have insisted that he would not take to the stage before Wizkid, leading to a disagreement that reportedly delayed the arrival of American RnB singer and main performer of the night, Chris Brown.”
Also confirming the clash is Nairobi News. “Kiba felt he is bigger in Kenya than Wizkid hence he could not understand why he was scheduled to perform before,” NairobiNews said.
Wizkid lost the battle and Ali Kiba proceeded to perform right before Chris Brown (Seeing as the biggest masquerade comes out last). However this almost ruined Chris Brown’s event as the fight led to his own show being moved to later in the night that Saturday.
But that’s not all.
While Ali Kiba was on the stage, his microphone got disconnected, prompting him to end his performance midway.
I was surprised. I don’t know whether the microphone was disconnected for Chris Bown to be ushered in. I hope my fans understood that it was not my fault,” Ali Kiba says.
Wizkid is yet to add voice to these claims.

Peter Okoye Dissociates Himself From A P-square Show, Threatens To Sue His Brother “Jude”

Peter Okoye of P-Square, who has left the group and gone solo, shared the flier above & called out his brother and former manager, Jude, for promoting a P-Square show instead of Rudeboy.

He wrote;

“Disclaimer: This goes out to all my Fans in Congo Specifically and the entire world in General. My attention has been drawn to a much publicised show holding today 8th July, 2016(VIP SHOW) and tomorrow 9th July, 2016,(in Goma) and on the 17th of August in Kinshasa wherein the name Psquare was used maliciously and mischievously to garner patronage and huge fans attendance as against the stage name Rudeboy which is used when my Twin Brother, Paul, and Co-owner of the stage name Psquare performs alone.

I never endorsed the usage of my name as the contractual terms presented were not favourable to me, thus I am not part of the show booked by our former manager Jude and I wholeheartedly disassociate myself from the unauthorized use of my Co-owned stage name (Psquare) and images for promotional and economic reasons without my express written consent or permission.

Contrary to the wild allegations making the rounds that I could not attend the show because I am sick and missed my flight along with my crew members, I wish to counter same and state categorically, that I am 101% healthy.

I shall take appropriate legal actions in the nearest future against the promoters and the sponsors of these events for character assassination and malicious misrepresentation. Thank you. MR.P (Peter of Psquare)

26 have been confirmed dead and 154 injured after the blast at the Colectiv Club,on Friday night. Deputy Interior Minister Raed Arafat said the death toll may still climb at the club, as 88 people are treated in hospital. The venue was hosting a rock concert for Halloween attended by up to 400, when the chaos broke out, Daily Mail reports..

The fire was believed to have started after fireworks burned through scaffolding. According to reports, clubgoers initially thought the flames were part of the show and did not immediately react.

Victor Ionescu, who was at the club with his girlfriend, told Antena 3 TV that ‘people were fainting, they were fainting from the smoke. It was total chaos, people were trampling on each other.’

A young man filmed by Antena 3 said that flames engulfed clubgoers, burning their skin and hair.
Although it has not been confirmed what caused the fire, a local TV station reported that the explosion may have been caused by fireworks.

A witness told local station Realitatea TV one of the fireworks exploded and burned scaffolding that supported the pyrotechnic material. The scaffolding fell on people who were inside the club and victims claimed the ceiling collapsed.

Being in love is a wonderful, glorious, fantastic journey that brings together two people in a miraculous explosion of passion.
Sorry, I know that was really flowery, but stick with me, OK?
