 LAUTECH plans production and supply of glass wares

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has hinted of planned efforts to commence the production of glass wares in its department of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) and supply same to sister institutions and organizations on request.
Speaking at the 6th induction ceremony for 2013/2014 graduating students of SLT department by the Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), which held at the University yesterday, the


Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Gbadegesin said work had commenced in the newly completed glassblowing workshop and laboratory complex towards achieving this goal.
He added that apart from being taught the theory and principle of glass blowing technology, “our students now mend and produce glass wares, and some of the products are available at the laboratory for interested organizations to see.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Professor Ezekiel Ayodele while reiterating the fact that LAUTECH was the first University to present students for induction into NISLT five years ago, said the management of the University was unrelenting in its efforts at ensuring that the department is repositioned for better service delivery through provision of facilities and continuous engagement of senior academics.
Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, Dr. Ighodalo Ijagbone who was represented by the Director of Education and Training, My Yemi Gbadegesin in challenging the inductees to remain good ambassadors of the University, admonished them to consider private practice rather than join the already saturated employment market
